Determination of Celecoxib in Dosage Forms

A simple, accurate, precise and reproducible method has been developed and
validated for the estimation of celecoxib in dosage forms by RP-HPLC.
Chromatography was carried out on an ODS column using a mixture of 0.2% v/v
of glacial acetic acid and acetonitrile (32:68 v/v) as the mobile phase at a
flow rate of 1ml/min. Valdecoxib is used as an internal standard and the
detection was done at 260 nm. The retention times of drug and internal
standard were 14.177 and 4.50 min. respectively. The method produced linear
responses in the concentration range of 2- 20 µg/ml of celecoxib. The method
was found to be applicable for determination of the drug in capsules as well
as in tablets.
