THE PHARMA REVIEW OCTOBER 2006 |
Increasing Packaging Line Efficiency by Streamlining Sorbent Insertion |
|
Adrian Possumato |
Abstract: Moisture can severely impact the quality, safety, and shelf life of pharmaceutical products. Without proper desiccation, many solid-dose formulations can degrade via a variety of chemical pathways, resulting in reduced shelf life. Consequently, preventing degradation with sorbent technology has become a critical aspect of solid-dose pharmaceutical stability. However, challenges inserting sorbents can limit production capabilities. As the world of sorbent technology expands, new solutions and insertion options can help manufacturers increase packaging line efficiency while providing the moisture protection necessary to ensure pharmaceutical integrity. |
