Ovarian Cancer and its Diagnosis Using Quantum Dots

Sangya Agarwal2, Pooja Sharma2, Neha Chaoudhary2, Sanchita Agarwal2 & Rachana1

Introduction: Ovarian cancer mostly left undetected at the early stage due to lack of sensitive techniques as, the markers which are expressed at the early stage, are not very well defined yet and may be due to less in quantity they remain undetected. Quantum dots are such nano-particles which can fluoresce and can detect the presence of desired molecule very sensitively. If, the logic of “specific marker for a particular type of cancer” and “sensitivity of QDs” can be combined, there is a very high scope to detect this cancer at early stage which can reduce the risk of death due to ovarian cancer. The present article describes the need and method to develop QDs to detect ovarian cancer at early stage.
