An Outlook on Novel Treatment Starategies for Dental Problems

Introduction:

Abstract: Dental hygiene plays an important role on overall health of the mankind. From ancient days herbs are widely using for dental problems. There are number of dental problems which includes periodontitis, halitosis, tooth decay, tooth sensitivity, mouth sores and oral cancer. Out of those periodontitis diseases is the main one. It is an inflammatory disease of supporting tissue of the teeth due to infection of periodontal pocket arising from the accumulation of subgingival plaque. It is considered as possible risk factor for the systemic disorders such as cardiovascular disease and preterm low birth weight infants. It is observed in all age groups, races and genders. Mechanical removal is an adjunctive to the local delivery of antimicrobial agents for periodontal destruction. So antimicrobial agents in the form of local drug delivery systems are used to overcome the limitations of mechanical treatment. These products are designed for long term therapy at the site of infection at much lower doses.
