Abstract
Pharmaceutical formulations with drug combinations in
single dosage forms have gained increasing acceptance in
the healthcare domain. This has posed a big challenge
not only amongst pharmaceutical analysts to design
robust and accurate methods with negligible overlapping
effects on quantification but also amongst
pharmaceutical administrators in particular to fight
against counterfeit drugs. The present study is a
compilation of the fundamentals of various
Spectrophotometric methods used to carry out
multi-component analysis. These include simultaneous
equation method, area under the curve method, two
wavelength method, absorbance ratio method, difference &
derivative spectrophotometry and orthogonal polynomial
method. The study also outlines various validation
parameters which forms an integral part of the above
mentioned methods.
