Sunscreen Regulation: An Overview

Introduction: Sunscreen is defined as “Product containing UV filters in its formulation in order to protect the skin from the solar harmful UV-light, avoiding or reducing the damage from radiation on human health”. Sunscreens reflect, absorb and scatter both ultraviolet A and /or B type radiation, to provide protection to the skin from harmful UV radiations. Sunscreen products comprise different chemicals that have UV-light absorbing/scattering properties, which are commonly referred as UV filters.
