Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting: The Essential Component of Pharmacovigilance

Introduction: Pharmacovigilance is defined as the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse drug effects (ADRs) or any other drug-related problem. The purpose of pharmacovigilance is to detect, assess and understand, and to prevent the adverse effects or any other possible drug-related problems, which is not only confined to chemical drugs, but extended to herbal, traditional and complementary medicines, biologicals, vaccines, blood products and medical devices1,2.
