Perspective On Herbal Medicines and Its Regulation

Introduction: Any medicine made from parts of plant either in the crude form or by extracting the active ingredients that possess therapeutic properties and is used for the treatment of one or more ailments is termed as Herbal medicine and “herbalism” refers to the study of herbal medicines. Herbal medicines are also termed sometimes as “Alternative medicines”. Good old examples of herbal medicines are Garlic for cholesterol lowering effects1, Aloevera for anti-aging2.
