Pharmacovigilance - Who Should Lead? Doctor of Pharmacy or Doctor

Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) defines Pharmacovigilance as “the science and activities relating to the detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of adverse effects or any other possible drug-related problems1. Pharmacovigilance in India is yet in the state of infancy, as it rates below 1% as against the world rate of 5%2. India is a popular country and also a developing economy, has emerged as the hub of pharmaceuticals and generics. In fact, India is called as Mecca of poor man medicine. India a member of BRICS, and SAARC has emerged as a pioneer of pharmaceutical market and products in terms volume and quality3,4.
