Bioanalytical Method Development and Validation for Estimation of Esmoprazole from Spiked Rat Plasma Using HPLC With UV Detection

Introduction: Esmoprazole (ESMO) is a proton pump inhibitor widely used for the treatment of gastroesophagal reflux disease. Ibuprofen (IBU) is a NSAID used for inflammatory diseases such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Literature survey reveals that several methods are reported for the estimation of ESMO employing RP-HPLC, individually and in combination with other drugs from tablet formulation1-5. Also very few LC methods with MS/MS detection are available for the estimation of ESMO in biological fluids6-7. The proposed research work describes the development and validation of a HPLC method with UV detector for the quantitative estimation of ESMO using IBU as internal standard in rat plasma.
