The Future of Clinical Trials: How Bringing Patients to The Centre Can Cut Costs and Deliver Better Outcomes

Introduction: Pharmeceutical groups face increasing challenges in the planning and execution of clinical trials. For a variety of scientific and regulatory reasons, studies have become more complex in the last few years, and recruitment and retention of patients has never been more taxing or expensive. At the same time, the general reputation of the pharma industry has been on the wane, which has hardly helped to attract to studies. Research shows that only 10% of trials now finish on schedule, and that enrollment now accounts for 40% of trial costs a troublingly high number.
