Introduction
The healthcare industry, which comprises hospital and
allied sectors, is projected to grow 23 percent per
annum to touch approx. 3500 billion rupees by 2012 from
the current estimated size of 1600 billion rupees
according to ASSOCHAM report. India’s expenditure on
healthcare constitutes almost 5.1 percent of the
country’s GDP, higher than that of some other developing
nations. The fastest growing concern in India is
healthcare, though it is yet to catch pace with western
countries where adequate attention towards its citizen
is the main focus.
