Development and Validation of Stability-Indicating HPTLC Method for Estimation of Mometasone Furoate in Pharmaceuticals

Introduction: Mometasone is a medium-potency synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties1,2. Mometasone Furoate is (11β, 16α)-9, 21-dichloro-11-hydroxy-16-methyl-3, 20-dioxopregna-1, 4-dien-17-yl 2- furoate. The anti-inflammatory actions of corticosteroids are thought to involve phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins collectively called lipocortins. It is postulated that these proteins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A23
