Abstract: Today, the technologies are converging together to provide a value based quality service in the world of healthcare. Information Technology combined with Biology has led to Bioinformatics. Nanotechnology is another emerging field which may replace today's conventional fields with its tremendous application potential in the area of medicine. In future, when Nanotechnology, Information Technology and Biotechnology will meet, it would definitely deliver magic medicines. As our honorable President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam is optimistic about convergence of bio-nano-info technologies, application of such convergence would promise tremendous benefits for mankind.

In the present scene of globalization, low production cost of drug without compromising on its quality is need of the hour. As India is emerging as hub of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology research, studies in regulatory field needs to strengthen. Abundant scientific manpower is our strength. But, we need to organize ourselves to attain global standards which are essential if we have to develop a product that has to be internationally approved. All the above mentioned aspects would be possible only when we produce knowledgeable students. This can only be done by modifying our conventional curriculum and committed teachers who are not only good at teaching but also research oriented.

As pharmacy education is more of industry oriented, pharmacy curriculum should be centralised and it should contain the representatives from industry, government authorities and academia. Under the guidance of experts from academia, industry and government we have to revise pharmacy curriculum regularly to match the international standards and should be followed uniformly among all the Indian Pharmacy Institutes. In order to meet the industries needs we have to train our future pharmacists. For this more emphasis should be given to the practical aspects rather than just theoretical ones.
