Abstract: It was August, 1965 when I joined department of pharmacy B.H.U as a B.Pharm. 1st year student. It was a memory day in my life, when I found myself in a big B.H.U. campus looks like centre of temples & education. In those days, the rules of the hostels & of the campus were very tough. No students can enter into main gate without prior permission from warden after 6p.m. The mode of ragging by the senior was totally different then today. The seniors, beside enjoy, used to educate the junior about the facilities available in the department, in the campus & discipline to -be maintained in the hostel, mess & department.
The seniors were educating the juniors about the nature of different staff & the punctuality in the institute. The senior was also helping junior by providing books & handwritten subject notes because only few books available at that time. The ragging by the senior was one of the mode to search talent student in sports, music & etc.
I was fortunate to be a student of my most respectable Guru Ji late Dr. G.P. Srivastava. I cannot forget my other teachers too like late Dr. S. Prasad, late Dr. D. N. Majandar, late Dr. G. B. Singh, late Dr. N. C. Negi, prof. S. Ghosal, Prof. Taty..rawadi, Mr. O. P. Khanna, Dr. A.K. Taneja, Dr. Bhawsa, Dr. Ansari, Dr. I. Bhattacharya & Dr. S. B. Jaiswal etc. Today whatever I am, because of my guru's, who taught me discipline, thorough knowledge & skill of leaving during my student life. The teachers were more devoted & dedicated for teaching for practicals. Today the teachers are not serious about their duties, Dr. G. P. Srivastava used to reach 15 minutes ahead than schedule time. This reflects the devoting of the devotion of teachers.
One day, we were doing practical in the lab, by mistake some distilled water was leaking from the container. It was seen by Dr. G. P. Srivastava, he came in side the lab & gave a lecturer about the importance of even a distilled drop of water. When I was a M.Pharm. student in 1971. I was searching some material in my guide respected Prof. G.B. Singh room's Prof. G.P. Srivastava thought that I am sitting on the chair of my guide. He told me sit on the chair only when you disserve it from that day, I never sit on the others chair. It was a very good lesson for me. The B.H.U. Department was preparing for golden jublee in 1982 along with IPC. There was some dispute in the department to hold congress. On 31st December 1981 night, Late Dr. G.P. Srivastava handed over a white paper to me in dreams, directed that IPC must be held. I told the story & requested the members of the institute about the desire of Prof. Late Sh. G.P. Srivastava to hold congress. But few of them neglected & decided to damage the show. Though, the congress was held. I pay my respect to all my teachers & non teaching staff, who supported me & gave love during my stay in B.H.U. from 1965 to 1996. In 1996, I left B.H.U with tears taking pre-retirement.
