The President’s Address To The 16th National Convention
of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India
Apticon – October, 2011 At Moga (Punjab)
It gives me great pleasure to extend to the chief guest,
all the members of the APTI and the distinguished guests
a warm welcome to the 16th Annual Convention of the
Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India.
It has been extremely kind of the Management, Principal,
Staff and students of the ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga
to have graciously come forward to play the host and
make arrangements for the conduct of the convention. It
is a great responsibility they have undertaken and have
been going about making all arrangements with interest
and enthusiasm. This is my second visit to this place.
We must appreciate the development of this college which
excelled in the field of Pharma education with their
quality education. We also appreciate their contribution
to the APTI for conducting its major event of the year.
This is 16th Annual convention of our Association. APTI
established in 1966 has gone through a process of
healthy democratization. The APTI today is a major
organisation – the only one for pharmacy education and
has 6500 life members. APTI strives to bring the
pharmacy education on a single platform, improve the
quality of pharmacy education and honour the
achievements of distinguished teachers. Although many
milestones have been crossed, but more heights need to
be scaled. My quest has been the one for principles to
orient the reformation of higher education in the third
millennium. This is because, I strongly believe this
millennium will be that of: "Change being the only thing
constant". In this era of constant change, of enhanced
internationalism; education and training needs to be
adequately imparted to deal with knowledge society which
can be done only if our students are amply trained. The
efforts of the association in encouraging and supporting
its members to attain the best have always been
appreciated. It is our responsibility as pharmacy
professionals to keep up with the pace of the world and
APTI is one such avenue through which this can be
achieved.
