The Archival Collection and Writings of Harkishan Singh

Dr Ravindernath Kaul

Introduction:

AS a senior member of the pharmaceutical fraternity in India, a distinguished academician, an outstanding medicinal chemist, and an active participant in the growth of the pharmacy profession in India, Professor Harkishan Singh is well known. His international reputation, however, rests largely on his achievements as a pharmacy historian1. At more than 80 years of age, he continues to carry out his historical research, and his drive for collecting archival material, studying, and writing has not slackened. The object of the present article is to convey how Harkishan Singh built a massive archival collection, to enumerate his publications for the historical record, and to draw attention to reviews of his works, complementing the notes on Singh’s archival collection and history research that have previously appeared2.
