Achieving Cost Savings and Increased Efficiencies Through Vendor Technology

Introduction: In growing markets like India, R&D spending has focused primarily on generics and not blockbuster drugs that can bring in hefty revenues when successful. Nonetheless, getting generic drugs to market before competing brands is equally as important as brand name pharmaceuticals as success for generic medicines awards a 180-day exclusivity prize. As R&D budgets make a slow recovery and more patents expire paving the way for generics, improving efficiencies will be vital to realizing an acceptable return on investment. Additionally, as they make this return to innovation, R&D groups may find that it becomes more cost effective to rely not solely on internal resources but also complimentary technology from critical vendors.
