Dr. Bayya Subba Rao

Introduction: The origin and history of Indian Pharmacopoeia was discussed earlier and was proved Indian pharmacopoeial monographs are on par with monographs present in pharmacopoeias of the United States and the British1. Indian Pharmacopoeia, 2014 is the seventh edition and has four volumes that include allopathic, herbal, vaccines, biotechnology, blood, radio pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and veterinary related products. General monograph (A to Z) comprises products relating to bulk drugs, formulations, drug combinations, pharmaceutical aids/excipients etc. It depends on the country’s policies the status of drug product is active or banned.
