Personalized Nanomedicine (PNM) for Safe and Effective Chemotherapeutics

Rajneet K Khurana1, Shikha Lohan2, Gurjit K Bhatti2 & Bhupinder Singh1,2

Introduction: An untamed dragon, cancer, in one or more than 200 plus different known forms, claims over 8 million lives each year, taking a toll of around 22,000, each and every day. It is estimated that 9 million people will be dying only from cancer in 2015 and 13.1 million in 2030. Several deregulated pathological hallmarks like cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, inflammation, infiltration, and metastasis are responsible for the heterogeneity in cancer initiation and progression, resulting in very distinct characteristics of tumours affecting various organs, differing in their molecular subtypes. In addition, genetic predisposition, mutations, and environmental factors could make this problem even more multifarious.
