Abstract: A patent is the exclusive right granted by law to the inventor to make, use, sell and license his/her invention for a specified period of time. The utility of the patent system is that the said invention remains in the public domain so that anyone could practice the invention after the term of patent expires or can bring about further improvements in the invention. A petition can be submitted for a revocation of patent by any person interested or the Central Government or on a counter claim in a suit for infringement of the patent on certain grounds.
