Abstract: Extracts of Calendula officinalis, Wrightia tinctoria, Cassia tora and Azadirachta indica were screened in comparison with standard anti-microbial Cefazolinolin Sodium and Amoxicillin Anhydrous in vitro by diffusion method using Staphylococcus aureus (Gram +ve), Escherichia coli (Gram -ve) as micro-organisms. At the concentration of 1000µg/ml the extracts showed significant anti-microbial activity as compared to the standard. Thus the extracts of Calendula officinalis, Wrightia tinctoria, Cassia tora and Azadirachta indica can be considered to be potent anti-bacterials against both Gram +ve and Gram -ve bacteria. |
