Abstract: G. P. Srivastava distinguished himself as an educationist and pharmacy professional. Srivastava's major strength as an academic lay in his effective transmission of knowledge to the students, making them skillful in experimental techniques and following good laboratory practices, inculcating in them the spirit of doing duty, be disciplined and good time managers. He became the first pharmaceutical historian from India. He earned international recognition for his research on the history of original Indian system of pharmacy of the ancient period. His contributions to the profession were also significant. He was a builder of the United Provinces' Pharmaceutical Association/ Indian Pharmaceutical Association and the Indian Journal of Pharmacy. He presided at the Indian Pharmaceutical Congress. He is counted as the founder of the Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India and its organ Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. |
