An Environment with Safe Health Care Facilities

Dr. H Paramesh

Introduction:

Safe guarding health care facilities from consequences of any disaster is a priority, social necessity, a collective responsibility and a political necessity in its own right, because the occupants are highly vulnerable section of the population and cannot be evacuated easily. Health care facilities should operate round the clock more so at the time of disasters. They have a public health responsibility at the time of epidemics, pandemics and disaster, their diagnostic services are essential for surveillance and control of the diseases. They should be operational round the clock for medical care. The investment with expensive equipment should remain functional to stimulate economic growth and encourage investment. Hospitals like schools have symbolic value for the Communities.
