Abhijit D. Dhiware, Santosh V. Gandhi, Padmanabh B. Deshpande & Prajakta S. Pawar

Introduction:

Etodolac (ETO), chemically, (RS)-2-(1, 8-Diethyl-4, 9-dihydro-3H-pyrano [3, 4-b] indol-1-yl) acetic acid used for the management of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammation1. Thiocolchicoside (THIO), N-[(7S)-3-(beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-1, 2-dimethoxy-10-(methylsulfanyl)-9-oxo-5, 6, 7, 9-tetrahydrobenzo[a]heptalen-7-yl] acetamide is used as muscle relaxant with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects2.
Literature survey reveals high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC)3-4, Liquid chromatography - Mass Spectroscopy (LC-MS)5 and spectrophotometric6-7 methods for the determination of ETO in human plasma and in pharmaceutical formulations as a single and in combination with other drugs. Analytical methods have been reported for the determination of THIO includes HPLC8-11, densitometric12-13 and spectrophotometric14-15 as single component or in combination with other drugs.
