An Overview of Pharmaceutical Disputes at World Trade Organisation Relating to India

Introduction: Establishment of an international organisation, World Trade Organisation (WTO-formerly called as GATT) is to increase economy of the member countries by bringing out mutual understanding relating to trade, services and intellectual property rights. Such an understanding is found fruitful in terms of a predictable business, better resolution of disputes among the countries. The objective of the article is to bring out the issues that were raised on, by India relating to trade matters at the international arena. India is observed as a complainant, respondent and as a third party at the international organisation. The present discussion is to emphasize exclusively disputes relating to pharmaceuticals that were at various levels such as pending, resolved.
