Convalescent Plasma as a
Potential Therapy for Treating Covid-19 Patients

Introduction: COVID-19 also known as Corona virus
disease 19, is a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS),
pandemic declared and caused by a corona virus affecting
lakhs of people around the globe. In this emergency
situation there are only a few available antiviral
treatments that have limited efficacy on COVID-19 at
present. Since there is no assured vaccine or medicines
available for the disease, efforts are being made for
alternative treatment methods to treat large number of
population. From the literature survey and experiments
being conducted so far, it has been observed that
convalescent plasma therapy can be the emergent way of
treatment for COVID-19. The review article covers
details related to the mechanism of action, benefits,
challenges and other relevant facts associated with the
use of convalescent plasma therapy that can serve as a
promising and effective treatment aid for COVID-19
patients.
