Abstract: Life imprisonment to those making counterfeit drugs & food products and a minimum 7-10 years rigorous punishment have been recommended to other spurious article manufacturers by The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) with necessary amendments in Copy Right & Trade Marks Act as also Bureau of Indian Standards Act to put circulation of food products into complete halt.
While releasing these recommendations ASSOCHAM President, Mr. Venugopal N. Dhoot said that the suggested harsh measures are necessary to bring to book the fake manufacturers for good so that they never resort to such nefarious activities again. India, he said was getting closely integrated with economies of scale to create space for its products and if these are qualitatively inferior, it will damage its credibility and become a dumping ground for foreign products as Indian consumers have grown quality conscious to adopt and accept only quality products. |
