Criminal Action Against Counterfeiters: A Successful Private Initiative

Vijay Karan

Abstract: The business of counterfeiting is global in its spread and ramifications and has assumed alarming proportions. It is perhaps one of the biggest illicit business in the world causing huge financial loss to nations and industries. It is in evidence openly everywhere, especially in the developing world. You can see consumer counterfeit products being sold brazenly on the streets of many cities in the world, more especially the developing world. The common man does not seem to mind it because it gives him an easy opportunity to buy the so-called high value brand names at rock bottom prices.
