Abstract: Detoxification is
a process where in you help the body eliminate the
toxins (substances formed in the body as a result of
constipation, overeating, or wrong eating, weak or
incomplete digestion, unwanted by-products resulting
from the various activities going on in the body viz.
Metabolism, and Stress, and exposure to pollution,
inhalation of toxic [chemical] fumes, physical contact
with contaminated material), in order to restore
VITALITY. As a result the body's Vital Organs, and the
various systems are enabled to function more
efficiently, & restore the proper balance of the body
and mind. Detoxification is normally done by stimulating
the four eliminatory organs: Skin, Lungs, Intestines and
The skin is stimulated
by exercise i.e., brisk walking, jogging, cycling,
skipping, swimming. When exercise is not possible,
whole body steam bath (Sauna) once a week is a good
alternative. This exercise is to induce sweating.
Sweat expels sulphur compounds unwanted by the body.
The lungs expel carbon
dioxide and water vapour. Steam inhalation with
boiled water containing shredded cabbage leaf and
one teaspoon of turmeric powder helps cleansing of
lung, sinuses and nasal air passages. Cabbage
contains Tartronic acid and organic sulphur. It
helps cleans the respiratory track, the sinuses and
allopen spaces in the head and thoracic region.
Turmeric contains Curcumin and Curcumol, which have
potent antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
