A Study on Selected
Components of Supply Chain in Pharmaceuticals

Introduction: Currently, governments of different
countries are concentrating on supply chain through
proper documentation to ensure quality medicines reach
the end user. A typical supply chain is as mentioned in
Figure 1. To meet the first objective, to find out
whether manufacturing sector is comfortable with the
currently regulatory senario, a pilot survey was
conducted especially upon small scale pharmaceutical
manufacturing sector and the outcome was analysed and
reported1. Several international controversies on the
quality of pharmaceutical products manufactured in India
were witnessed and there is a need to ensure that
products available in the market are with required drug
contents, and are of quality, well accepted. To meet the
second objective, most commonly used conventional tablet
dosage form of paracetamol, metformin were studied for
the pharmaceutical quality parameters as per Indian
Pharmacopoeial specifications as well as in house
manufacturing parameters and the results were discussed
and reported2.
